Bridges

A bridge is just one of the options available for replacing missing teeth.

Bridges may be made from metal or they may be metal covered with a thin layer of porcelain to appear more natural. They may also be crafted entirely from porcelain by an experienced technician to produce a bridge that is very similar in appearance to your own teeth.

Your dentist may recommend a bridge if you have only a few teeth missing.  It is important to replace missing teeth even if you are not concerned about your appearance because the gap allows the remaining teeth to drift out of position.   This may eventually affect their function.

The teeth adjacent to the space are prepared. Your dentist then fixes or bonds the bridge containing the false teeth onto your prepared teeth so the false teeth fill
the space.  Bridges may also be made of other non metallic materials. You should ask your dentist what is most suitable for you.
